Manchester City Centre

Many villages and towns offer their own attractions. Leek is a market town with a good range of antique shops and an excellent Saturday junk and antique market.

Nearby Macclesfield has a silk museum and heritage centre reflecting the town’s days of glory as a silk manufacturing town. The football team are still known as the Silkmen and you can buy some locally made silk items such as  ties in the museum.

Head into the hills and you are soon in the former spa town of Buxton with its impressive architecture and Pavilion Gardens.

You can also enjoy a Bakewell Pudding in the town of that name or enjoy the market at Ashbourne. The Potteries has a range of -yes you’ve guessed it!- potteries to visit with great outlets selling bargain seconds.

Adam Partridge of ‘Flog It’ fame holds a monthly auction just a few miles away – great to view or maybe go home with a few antiques and collectables?

Manchester is a great day out – driving takes around 45 minutes or the easy option is to take the train from Macclesfield. 20 minutes and you are in the middle of the city.
The Trafford Centre is a huge indoor shopping complex and is 5 miles from the city centre, just 45 minutes by car from Yew Tree Farm.
